When covering an AFL match, I take roughly 300 photos and videos pre and post-game but for one reason or another, only a small selection see the light of day on social media.
Sometimes a few gems get lost in the whirlwind of focusing on capturing key moments, weighing up how it all fits into a broader story, wondering how you can position yourself in five places at once, switching between 5-6 apps to capture and edit content, writing social copy on the fly, publishing to multiple channels with different demands and priorities — all without missing the action unfolding in front of you.
Instead of letting the season’s content fall further back in my camera roll, I thought I’d share some unseen moments from the 2018 season.
